Your Photo Shoot

In this rare situation, I ensure that two very important aspects are covered: communication and coverage.  If there are any complications that hinder my from shooting your wedding, you will be the first to know what the situation is, and what I am doing to make sure your wedding will be attended by a capable photographer.  To meet this emergency requirement, I am part of a network of close-knit, cooperative local wedding photographers and, through the magic of social media, can summon their support in short order.

In this situation, I strongly recommend selecting a package that includes a second photographer.  The groom getting-ready photos will be covered by the second photographer.  If you choose not to have a second photographer, we will arrange a schedule for the getting-ready photos at the pre-wedding consult around two weeks before your wedding day.

Team

I always work with at least an assistant to help with shot preparation, lighting placement, and equipment management.  Having an assistant with me ensures that both you and the background look great, allowing me to be as creative as possible.  Also, depending on the package or add-on selected, a second photographer may be part of my team.  The second photographer's responsibilities generally include covering the groom getting ready, shooting candids, and shooting details.

Equipment

Photo equipment
I shoot with Nikon DSLRs with fast, professional-grade lenses designed to focus quickly and produce sharp images even in low-light situations.  I also have a lighting kit that includes multiple speedlights and a studio flash powered by a portable battery.

Computer equipment
After the shoot, I work on a color-managed system with redundant storage and battery backup systems. The color-managed setup ensures that what I see on the screen will match what I see in print.  The redundant systems provide added security that your photos are safe from loss or corruption.  As an added layer of security, I utilize off-site backup for final photos.

All pieces of photography equipment have a designated backup.  On a shoot, I ensure that I have at least two camera bodies, two flashes, multiple lenses; multiple memory cards; and lots of spare batteries!

As part of wrapping up a photo shoot, I ensure that I have at least two copies of the shoot.  By the time my entire backup routine is complete, I will have three to four backups of the photos, at least one of which is off-site.
